History

With a cultural heritage that goes back to more than 20 years, Chhamaria Anchalik College, the only nest of higher education for never ending generations to come at Chhamaria and its adjoining areas of Kmarup district in Assam (India), earns authentic confidence to call ascending pursuit. The college was established on the 12th August, 1994 with a carriage of its weightage activated from some intellectual pioneers of the time.

The first meeting for the college was held on the 24th January, 1982 at public information organized by the College preparation committee that was formed in 1981 at the meeting of Chhamaria Yubak Sangha, Chhamaria Satra. Sri Harendra Narrayan Mazumdar was the president and Sri Khagen Bayan was the secretary of the preparation committee.

The first class started in the B.A. first year in Arts stream. In its initial period, classes were held in the Chhamaria High School, Chhamaria Satra during the early morning. The first principal of the college was Late Gajendra Adhikary.

The College is now permanently affiliated to Gauhati University and under 2(f) and 12 B of the UGC. At the outset of the college, seven departments were introduce and further two departments– Arabic and Philosophy were introduced later on. All the departments excluding English have major courses.

The present day college is compatible with building construction for infrastructural development. The college is led under G.B. and additionally charged by college development committee.

Campus
Sufficient land has been scheduled for the college and the same stands for 30 bighas. The College campus is about 15 kms. away North from 37 No. National Highway.

College infrastructure


The college has been playing a rivotal role since its inception in 1994. In a long walk of 19 years the institution has been doing development its adequate infrastructural facilities. At present of the college, two nos. of new buildings have been under construction (sponsored by the UGC, NERO). The college enjoys non-stop power supply since the sola plant is being in operation with optimum capacity of 50 KW (sponsored by Ministry of Renewable resources).

University Grant Commission has fostered the college with 20 computers, two xerox machine, one smart colass room. There are 11000 (eleven thousands) books in the library and an ample big size LCD TV which are ready to serve the welfare of students community for all round development.

The college lies in the beneath of the scenic beauty, far away from din and bustle. The multi caste and creed unification is another special features of the college. The college has the special vision and mission which will carry special attention in the future to come.
